Family of Jacob Schwegel (img. to U.S. 1851)

Briefly:
Schwegel (means flutes or organ pipes in "alt Deutsch" -- also old German wind instrument similar to flute or recorder)
Jacob Schwegel came to US in 1851. He was a saddler by trade and lived in Richmond, IN and Dayton, Ohio.
Served in 106th OVI and was captured by John Hunt Morgan at the battle of Hartsville, Tenn in 1863.
Married Christina Froelich. Son Charles (Dayton), who was a finish carpenter for the Barney and Smith railcar company and was also a painter. Charles married Mae Yaus.
Had a son Calvin (Dayton), who owned a car wash at Main and Brown Streets, sold insurance and was an inventor. He married Stephania Kinder of Casstown(?), Ohio. They had 11 children, four of whom survived to adulthood: Howard (KIA in 1944), Elmer, Richard, and Donald, all of whom are deceased.
Elmer (Dayton)was an enginering draftsman for Frigidaire div. of GM. He married Marian Lieppert (deceased) of Buffalo, NY.
They had two Chidren, Wayne and Nancy. Wayne married Carol Kaiser of Cincinnati. Nancy married Dale Burnett of Ridgeville, Ohio. They have one son, Jeremy.
