Hi Stephen,

you are right. Schwegmann does come from Schwege, where they owned land. My maidenname is Schwegmann and my Grandfather comes from that area with a long family history (back to ~ 800 A.D.). BTW, the whole family in that branch is Catholic. FYI, the history states, that some Schwegmanns left from each generation to make their way either in the Americas or Africa.
