I'm Rolf Schmidt from Saarbrücken in the south-western German state of Saarland.
I'm doing some research on my family tree, but I don't have much from my paternal grandfather's side. He had a grandmother Anna Theresia Schwegmann, born in 1861 in Thuine, a small village in the Emsland region of south-western Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen). That's in north-western Germany.
Anna Theresia Schwegmann married Heinrich Richard Röper from Thuine. Their daughter Anna Agnes Röper was born in Thuine in 1891, but married Eduard Schmidt from Sulzbach near Saarbrücken and moved there.
I'm looking forward to hearing more about the Schwegmanns or the Röpers from Thuine. Kind of fascinating to have ancestors so far in the north... ;-)
