Many years later and perhaps you know all this by now.
If you are talking about a Miles late in the 1800s, I would check out children of Harry mentioned below or of Shadrach and Thankful (Thankful is sister of Elizabeth mentioned below), both families remained in Saratoga.
If you are talking about early 1800, Miles Scofield is a son of Uriah and Elizabeth Scofield originally from Stamford CT. His brothers and sisters include Azariah, Rachel (Carey), Rhoda (Russell), Wilson, Hannah (Ingerson), and Harry. I believe Harry is the only one who remains in Saratoga. The rest go to Chautauqua Co. Miles, Rachel, and Hannah are among the earliest settlers there. Miles married Sara Putnam. They had these children between 1805 and 1817:
1. Rhoda, m. Samuel Waterman
3. Elias, m. Mary Hitchcock
4. Abigail, m. Amariah Edwards
5. Julia, m.John Foster
6. Wilson, m. Mary Scofield
Miles died in Chautauqua in 1819. I found an obscure notice in a newspaper clipping on microfiche there announcing a coroner's sale of his property.
I am descended from #6, Wilson. I have quite a bit of information on down from him, including copies from his Bible if anyone is interested.
There are two quite important documents for sorting out this family: One is the will of Miles' sister, Rachel Carey in Chatauqua in 1831. Since she has no children, she mentions each of her siblings, and her Mother Elizabeth. The other is Administration of Property of Miles' brother, Wilson from 1871. This Wilson also had no children, so the document lists all his nieces and nephews alive at that time, except for his brother Harry's children, because Harry himself is still alive.
Hopes this helps.
