The tombstone in Port Dover Cemetery says Norman B. Scofield was a native of St. Armand, Canada. I also found him and his first wife and his mother in Bayham township in 1852, he was a mill owner. I suspect Chauncey was born there and perhaps Catherine died as a result of childbirth. At that time Calista was still in Townsend township in the household of Aaron Slaght. The cemetery plot seems to contain the lineage from Chauncey who was the only son, but I suspect had nothing to do with the general store in Port Dover. I found him as a teamster in Chicago, Illinois in 1880. He is never on the census with Bessie in Port Dover but she is always listed as married. He must have died in 1916 as that is what his tombstone says.
