I remember my dad, Andrew, saying once that they (white folk) set there home on fire too. They were envious he said. I'm not saying that dad's family had much, I don't know, but regardless of what they had, it belong to them. As a result, that is how he got the name Andrew. He was born Ander Sconiers and when his birth certificate was destroyed, he changed his first name. I'll have to double check with my mom, but either that was his name or it was something similiar.
