Ulster or Ulster Plantation, Ireland

I am looking for any information regarding the movement of MACCORMICK's, MACCORMACK's from Scotland to the Ulster area of Ireland during the 1700's. Or information on the "Ulster Plantation" in general - what it was, purposes, history of, etc.

My great-great-great-great grandfather was born in Scotland of either Clan MacLaine-McLean or Clan Buchanan. I do not know which clan and would also appreciate any direction on this matter. He moved to the "Ulster area" of Ireland around 1775.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
