As far as the 'I' versus 'E' it seems to be preference. I have records of both spellings bieng used in my trace-back. I think they may both have origins in the o'Scullion clan of long ago. However it is interesting that different Scullins/Scullens came to Cleveland! Are your's from Northern Ireland?
