Dear Marlene
There is the possibility I have a connection with your Patrick Scully. My G-G-Grandfather, Michael Joseph McDonnell was the son of Patarick Joseph McDonnell & Ellen Scully (DOB 1835). Her parents were William Scully & Ellen Molloy of Kilcormac Parish, Co.Offaly. I believe William had a brother Patrick Scully whose son, also Patrick, married a Margaret Coghlan (DOB 1843).
Michael had a brother, Edward McDonnell who went to England with a friend John(Jack)Scully, who was apparently a very good fiddle player. Edward eventually married Roseanne Coghlan (DOB 1865) who was Margaret's sister.
Bit confusing I know, but there may be a link.
Regards,
John McDonnell.
