Looking for the Illusive Matthew Scully, Peterborough Ontario Canada
Posted by: Heather Scully (ID *****2735) Date: March 27, 2011 at 16:27:54

Hello all. Two branches of our family are looking for this info.

I am looking for the the family of Matthew Scully born about 1816 Ireland and his wife Bridget Kilcauly born abt 1816 Ireland. Not sure if they married in Ireland or in the States. From the States came to Ontario. Had the following children

Mary...born in USA approximately 1845

Catherine....born Ontario appr 1848

Anne.....born Ontario appr 1850

Matthew....born Ontario appr 1852

Patrick.... born Ontario appr 1854 died 1930 Peterborough

I have Patrick and his family and all his children and their marriages. I can find nothing on Patrick's brothers and sisters. And there is absolutely nothing on Matthew. It is as if he doesn't even exist going back to Ireland. I lived in the UK awhile and couldn't find anything there.

I am the daughter of one of Patrick Scully's grandchildren. I have been attempting to track Matthew Scully back to Ireland, but have had no luck at all. Have you been able to find anything that can help us out?

I don't know if it will help you at all, but Matthew Scully married a Bridget Kilcauly (not sure on the spelling). That is the name showing on the 1851 census, and then later, she is listed as Bridget Scully.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks and have a great day!
