My ggggrandfather was Stephen SKUTT. His son, also named Stephen, lived in the finger lakes area of NY until around 1830, when he moved with his wife, Sarah, to Ohio. Stephen Jr's name was variously spelled as Shute, Skut, Scutt, and Skutt in census and township records in NY. He himself spelled it as SKUTT, then SCUTT. I have some information on Stephen and Sarah's children, but need info on the history of this family. Am interested in corresponding with anyone who is doing research on any derivation of this name. Thanks.
