My parents had a sheepherder and friend who was Martin Daley from Cavour, Beadle Co., SD. I recall going with them to visit him and his sister in Cavour (Beadle Co.) in the late 1940s. Although they lived alone in what seemed like a large house, both Martin and his sister seemed (and must have been) quite elderly. At that time Martin was using an artificial lower leg, but according to my parents, he wore that when he was working for them in the 1920s-1930s. I did do a census search, and found Martin's family in Cavour Township on the 1900 Census. In the household there was the father James (60), mother Mary (53), daughter Annie C (22), son Martin(20), daughter Maggie(19), son Robert (13) and A-son (must mean adopted)Johnie (12). The mother has had 5 children, and 5 are living. As I recall Martin had a sister married to a Davis south of Harrold, SD, perhaps she was already married by 1900. I cannot account for a Bernard Daley at all -- so perhaps he was from a different family. Notify Administrator about this message?
