Hello Eilis.
We are going to give you as much information as we currently have on hand, and hopefully this will help.
My husband's grandmother, Madonna (Donovan) Browen, b 3/12/1935, in Mitchell, SD.
Her father, Daniel R. Donovan, b 3/24/1895 in Ethan, SD, m 9/23/1919 and died 2/24/1954, in Emery, SD.
His father, Daniel J. Donovan, b 1861 in Illinois, and died 5/31/1930 in South Dakota.
In the courthouse at Mitchell,Davidson County, SD, Daniel J. Donovan homesteaded 4-14-1888, and was recorded one year later in Davidson county 4-14-1889. Daniel J. Donovan had brothers, Mike and William. Neither married,and they also had a sister Gertrude.
Madonna Browen's brother, James Donovan, typed out a long family history that included all of the above information.
James stated that during his search, that there was a family member in Dublin, Ireland, named Sister Ann Murray, and she stated that the Donovan family came from Kealkill, Cork Co. area. We aren't sure if she is still alive (we were unable to locate her) but this is where we have gotten our information.
This is what we have so far, by starting from scratch, and we're trying to look further back. Thank you so far for the information you have been locating for us.
