Hello All,
I have a mystery to solve, and that is what happened to my great-grandfather, Jonathan Edwin Ferguson, who is said to have died in Sioux Falls, SD, although he lived in Washington DC with his wife and two small daughters. He died in 1889, before SD was a state. I don't know what he died of, or why he was there (if he even was), or where he is buried--Sioux Falls, or nearby, or Washington DC, or somewhere else. I would love to locate his grave and information on his death. He worked for the U.S. Dept. of the Interior, and I don't know if that had anything to do with it.
If anyone can suggest an agency that would likely have such records, or a list of all names in Sioux Falls and surrounding cemeteries (I think I've already read every one), or any other way to find out, I would be grateful!
