Dear Eilis O’Hara:
This is Karen Busch responding back. We have done much research for ancestry records and by taking a trip to Elk Point, South Dakota, we found the gravesite for Daniel, K Donovan. On his gravestone was encrypted, “Daniel K Donovan, born in Dunmanway, Ireland, June 6, 1829, Died at Ethan, SD, Feb. 5, 1898.” We are estimating that he immigrated to America sometime between 1829 when he was born and 1848 when he married Ellen Sullivan in New York. Ellen’s obituary stated she was born in County Cork, Ireland in 1828, and was buried in Elk Point Cemetery. We did not find her grave stone; however, the cemetery plots showed Mrs. Daniel Donovan was buried next to Daniel K. Donovan.

What Irish records can we research for further Information?

Sincerely, Karen Busch
