I just discovered GenForum postings from mid-2000 and early 2001, dealing with a Robert Seabrook born 1563, possibly in Buckinghamshire. Unfortunately, I was able to glean only limited information, as those posting queries and replies didn't take the time to pass too much of anything along. However, it appears that Robert was born Sept. 25, 1563, and died 1650 in Stratford, Connecticut. He married, apparently in Wingrave, Alice Goodspeed, who was born Aug. 19, 1576, in Wingrave, Buckinghamshire. One forum respondent listed nine children born between 1599 and 1608 (exactly one a year, which seems a bit speedy)--then suggests that it took a second marriage for Robert to acquire his youngest two daughters. I see that one of the nine children listed is Mary, baptized Jan. 31, 1601/2. From my limited previous information, I have Mary as a daughter of Robert Seabrook and Alice Goodspeed. She was born in 1601 and became the second wife (ca. 1634) of William Preston. (1590/91-1647) of Chesham, County Bucks. Mary died after 1680 in Stratford, Conn. William Preston and Mary Seabrook (with 6 of their chlldren) emigrated to New England aboard the ship "True Love" in 1635. That's altogether about all I have at the moment, but I'm always interested in any additions or corrections. Meanwhile, I'll be checking out an old history of Stratford again soon for any possible comments on Robert Seabrook. You may e-mail me if you wish at camfield@olympus.net Regards, Tom in Port Townsend, Wash. Notify Administrator about this message?
