I'm trying to do the same thing. My great grandfather was Eugene Seabrook born in South Carolina (don't know where) in 1875 or 1876. This information is from my grandfather's birth certificate, born 1916 in New York City. Great grandmother was Laura Walker born in Virginia also in 1875-1876. Not sure when or where Eugene and Laura married, nor am I exactly sure when they moved to New York City, but clearly it was at some point during or prior to 1916, since as I have said, my grandfather was born here in 1916. We are black, and as I have learned the original Seabrooks in this country were slave owners, so we are either decended from slaves, slave owners, or both. Does this fill in any blanks, or can you fill in some of mine?
