Aileen, from earlier research I had done (several years ago), I had the wife of Johann Peter Secat as Margarita Wegmantal born in Germany. This informtion came to me from a Jacobs Family History 1954 done by Grace Jacobs Bowman. In your Seacat Genealogy, July 2003, which I received from W. M. Van Over, Johann's wife is Margaret Frederica Gormin. The cover of your material says they were married in Lancaster, PA. "Van" said, if I am understanding him correctly, that they were married in Prussia.Do you know anything about this name Margarita Wegmantal? Was this her maiden name, or was she married to someone else and widowed, then married Johann?Did he have two wives, one being Margarita and one being Margaret Frederica Gornin? I would be grateful if you can shed any light on this matter. My connection to the Seacats is through Mark Jacobs Sr. who married Margaret Seacon in 1796 in VA and then through his son John Cadwallader Jacobs who married Catharine Thomas.
