Obit: P. Maude (Seal) McCurry b.1904 Rock, KS
DOUGLASS, KS -P. Maude McCurry, 101, passed away June 15, 2005, at her daughter's home in Douglass, surrounded by her family.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Douglass Church of Christ. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery.
Friends may call at Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The family will greet callers from 6:30 to 8 Sunday.
Memorials may be made to Total Home Health Care and Hospice or the Douglass Public Library, with the funeral home acting as custodian.
Maude, the third of five children, was born May 25, 1904, on a farm in Rock, to Ticia M. (Ralston) and James H. Seal. She attended Rock Valley School through eighth grade and graduated from Douglass High School in 1923.
On Oct. 8, 1941, she and Corbett McCurry married in Newkirk, Okla.
She spent her entire life in the Rock and Douglass area. A homemaker, she was also a babysitter for several families through the years.
She was baptized and a member of the Church of Christ of Douglass.
Her husband died Jan. 31, 1987. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Kenneth; two brothers, Leonard Seal and Chet Seal; two infant sisters; a son-in-law, Earl Dennett; two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Her survivors are two daughters, Wauneta Ketterman and her husband, Ed, Douglass, and Betty Dennett, Enid, Okla.; five grandchildren, Terry Ketterman, Robbin Ketterman and Twila Ketterman, all of Douglass, Craig Dennett, Enid, and Melanie Barton, Dallas, Texas; 14 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Vivian Seal, and a close friend, Mary Rose Laughlin, both of Douglass; and many nieces and nephews.
