Thanks Tom, that explains a tangle I had with names.
My line:
James Albert Seamans 1847 - 1917
William Roscoe Seamans 1869 - 1936
Mabel Alberta Seamans 1893 - 1984 m. 1910
George Lester Brackett 1890 - 1962
Albert Roscoe Brackett 1911 - 1956 m. 1943 Marie Wood 1909 - ___ and adopted her child, George Edward Smith who then became, Edward A. Brackett 1936 - ___. So it is legal, not blood, but I am fond of the family and genealogy. I do have half sisters who are blood kin to the Seamans'.
