Joanne, I'm trying to find a connection for my Stephen Seamans of Washington and Jefferson Co., NY. Stephen married Elizabeth Butterfield. I haven't connected all the dots yet but in the 1800 census for Kingsbury, Washington Co., NY pg 421 is a Noah Simons with wife both over age 45 and right below them is Stephen Simons with children and wife. He and wife are in the 26-45 age group so I'm (assuming)thinking Noah is Stephen's father. This Stephen eventually went to Jefferson Co. NY with wife Elizabeth who was born 19 Aug 1765 in Chelmsford, MA and died 6 Apr 1836 in Theresa, Jefferson, NY. I find Stephen in that county through the 1830's. I have other family papers that mention that Stephen's daughter, Mary "Polly" is related to a Noah. Altho for years we've had the surname for Mary as Webster not Seamans. I think Mary may have had one other sister, and five brothers possibly named Stephen, Noah, Ebenezer, John and Jonathan. In searching for the name Noah, I've located the following in Adams, Berkshire, MA in 1790. Aaron Simmons male over 16 and 3 females, Aaron Simmons 2 males over 16, 1 male under 16, and 3 females, Noah Simmons 2 males over 16 and 4 females, Reuben Simmons 1 male over 16, 1 male under 16, and 2 females. These names all seem to fit nicely into the Thomas and Martha Wood family. I've noted that Adams is in the northwest corner of Berkshire county which is the most western county next to NY and is a county south of Washington. I've also noted that the Noah b. in 1731 lived in Amsterdam, Montgomery, NY which is another county over from Washington. The Stephen above son of Stephen and brother to Mary was born in 1781 in Schylerville, Saratoga Co., NY which is the county between Washington & Montgomery Co., NY. I've also located information that says that Noah b. in 1731 in Swansea, MA had a son named Jeremiah and md. Sally Hammonds. They named a daughter "Polly" and a son "Stephen" perhaps after a brother? Does any of this dovetail into information you have on Noah and Aaron and their families? Notify Administrator about this message?
