Hello Joann,

I keep reading your posts to see if you can confirm being a descendent of Jonathan Seamans[Simmons], brother to Micajah b VA in 1786. No one seems to know what happened to brother Jonathan after his marriage to Elizabeth Sparkman.
I did find this and wonder if it is him on the 1820 Warren Co, TN census? Listed as JOHN
If so, he was listed as 18-26 [would be 28 as if b 1792]
She would be 22, which is ok, AND they had three females under ten.

I see you mention him with a male child at his second marriage.

My line [confirmed] is Jonathan b 1812/1816, son of Micajah.
I now have confirmation of all the males born to my Jonathan. My Jonathan migrated to AL with his four youngest children around 1867 or perhaps a little before. Their names are listed a 'Simmons' on the census records there, but all marriages, deaths, land holdings, etc are "Seamans". Lydia Seamans seems to have given birth to a son "John" [no last name on the census]b 1874 whose father was b MS!
I have copies of two land grants from the State of Tennessee to Micajah & Jonathan spelled Simmons [once] and Seamans[once]. If you are able to prove he is your ancestor, I'll send you copies I made on my hunting trips to TN.
I wish you success in your hunt!
Bernadine Seamans Sprinkles
