Berna and Al,

We have traced our line as follows:

Jonathan Seamans Sr.
Born about 1795 in Halifax, NC (?)
Married Mary (maiden name unknown) 1815 in Grainger, TN
Died 1845 in Yalobusha, MS

Mahala Seamans b. 1827 in Alabama
John Seamans b. 1827 in Alabama
Malachi Isaac Seamans b. 1829 in Yalobusha, MS
William A. Seamans b. 1836 in MS
Lucretia Jane Seamans b. 1838 in MS

So, at some point, Jonathan and wife Mary moved to Alabama and then on to Mississippi.

We are at a dead end as far as not knowing who Jonathan's father and/or mother were.

There is a line of Seaman(s) out of Virginia beginning with Jonathan Seaman (born about 1744) who married Rebecca Baldwin (born 1751). I believe this Virginia line ties to a New York line beginning with Jonathan Seamans (born 1684 in New York) and Elizabeth Denton (born 1684 New York). This is the line that ties to the first Captain John Seaman out of Essex England.

I don't know if our line is in any way related. If we could just find more information about where our Jonathan came from, we might get somewhere! :)
