The book I have says that we were French Protestants (Huguenots) members of the Reformed Church of France who were forced to flee because of religious war and massacres, and persecution. We settled in Queen Annes County Maryland in the last part of the 17th century,
The original spelling of our name was SENET pronounced (SENAY) and was americanized to SENEY
My Grandfather was born GEORGE ELMER SENEY But Died GEORGE ELMER SEANEY.
I hope that this helps a little,
###Richard###
