Seavers of West Tennessee/SW Kentucky
A high percentage of Seavers families in West Tennessee and southwestern KY are probably descended from Fielding and Nancy (Camp) Seavers, who married 12 mar 1829 in Wythe Co, VA.They had 11 known children:
John @1830
William @1832
Clinton Augustus @1834
Cornelius @1836
James @1839
Susan @1842
Alger S. @1844
Joel 1846-1918
Mary @1851
Adaline @1853
Henry Gentry @1855
My husband matches 34/37 markers on the yDNA test with a descendant of Fielding Seavers. My husband's line is
Henry Seaver(s) b. @1743d. @1810 (died Washington Co, VA)
William Se(a)ver(s) b. @1770 d. @1814 (died Washington/Scott Co, VA or Hawkins Co, TN)
John Se(a)ver(s) 1795-1835 (died Wythe Co, VA)
John Henry Seaver(s) 1825-1910
George H. Seaver 1868-1957
Willard L. Seaver 1902-1981(my father-in-law)
The spelling of Se(a)ver(s) in this family varied greatly until the late 1800s.
We do not know what relationship Fielding had to my husband's ancestors, but after William died, the children of his first wife (name unknown), moved to Wythe Co., VA.When Fielding came of age, he paid taxes on the same day as two of William Seavers sons, so they apparently lived near one another.
I have collected considerable census and marriage data on these families and am happy to share.
