It seems that your data on James Fletcher is correct. I found an old record in my notes from Richard Fletcher with the following:
James Fletcher born in 1703 (presumably in Stafford Co. VA)
Married the widow Rachel (Spicer) Sebastian on 21 April, 1745. They had a son James Fletcher Jr. born 18 June 1746.
They are listed with three children from the first marriage and a son together. The note says one of the children ends up in North Carolina. Unfortunately, neither of these James' could be my ancestor. I had hopes, but no luck! Dick also notes that there is a Will inventory for a James Fletcher in 1785 in Stafford County. I have found several Fletchers in Stafford County, two Williams, a Thomas, a James or two, a Moses (belongs to Richard's Line) and some others, but I do not know the lineage of any of them.
I hope this helps to clarify you lines. Thanks for the feedback,
John E. Fletcher
