Off California Interstate HWY 80 is the old mining town of Dutch Flat. Dutch Flat is in the Sierra Nevada Mountain area of California. They have a small museum where I saw the name of Luke Edward Secord. He was born August 26, 1827. It said he came from Edmundton, Canada. He married Mary Ann Julian and they had children. There is a street named after him, Secord Alley. If anyone wants to know more about him contact the Golden Drift Historical Society, P.O. Box 253, Dutch Flat, CA 95714. I would assume that Luke was a California '49er due to the time period he lived there and the activity in the area.
