Catherine, John and John Secord of Niagara

I have been having a peculiar time lately with this Secord. According to some information her brother was John Secord, husband of Susan Wartman. If this is so then why is John not listed under "Secord, John Sr., of Niagara" in "the Loyalists In Ontario, Sons and Daughters of American Loyalists." The only children credited to John Secord Sr are Catherine who married Elias Smith (through whose daughter Phoebe I am related) and Sarah who married Isaac Swayze. In other sources I have found other children credited to John Secord Sr, whose wife was Phoebe Travis. Where is there proof that John Secord Sr was the father of John Secord Jr? Just because they are referred to as Sr and Jr does not necessarily mean they are father and son.
