In 1901, there appears to have been two Reginald Secord’s in Brantford, Ontario: 1. Reginald Secord b. 27MAY1879, s/o Levi (22DEC1854) and Emily (15SEP1855) Secord . 2. Reggie Secord b. 1MAR1894, s/o Daniel (14APR1864) and Kate (15JUL1865) Secord. This Reginald, from his WWI attestation papers, was Reginald Lloyd (he is pretty definite about Lloyd, not Floyd) Secord, b. Brantford 1MAR1894, and on 21MAR1916, his residence was 136 Elgin St. Brantford, Ontario. His next-of-kin was his father, Daniel of the same place; and Reggie was a coremaker. He was married at the time, and had been in the militia, in the 38th Dufferin Rifles. He was 5 feet 5 inches, with fair complexion, grey eyes and brown hair. He was either Baptist or Congregationalist. In 1901, Reggie’s siblings were: Bertha Secord b. 16SEP1890 ‘Margorie’ Secord b. 11AUG1899 Hazel Secord b. 14MAR1901 Daniel Secord b. ca. 1864 was apprenticed to Alfred Ball, a blacksmith, in Brantford in 1881. Daniel Secord b. Brantford, ONT 14APR1864, d. MAY1948, bur. Mt. Hope Cem., Brantford, m. 9OCT1889 Catherine Smith; was the s/o Hiram and Elizabeth (Smith) Secord. Hiram was the s/o David and Mary (Olmstead) Secord. David was the s/o Daniel and Elizabeth (Perrin) Secord. Daniel was the s/o Daniel and Elizabeth Secord. Daniel was the s/o Daniel and Elizabeth (Archer/Warner) Secord. Daniel was the s/o Daniel and Catherine (Mabie (Maybee/Mabee)) Secord. Daniel was the s/o Daniel and Catherine (Woertman, later Wartman) Sicard. Daniel was the s/o Ambroise and Jeanne Sicard, Huguenots from France to New Rochelle, Westchester Co., NY; probably in 1683; the ancestors of all the Sicard’s/Secord’s/Seacord’s/Sicar’s/etc. in North America; including Laura (Ingersoll) Secord’s husband. A variation on the above line-of-descent make the Daniel Secord who m. Elizabeth Perrin a s/o Daniel and Mary Secord, with Daniel s/o John and Phoebe (Travis) Secord; John the s/o Daniel and Catherine (Mabie) Secord; so there is some difference of opinion. With the forename, Daniel, being exceptionally popular within the family, confusion would be easy.
