Thanks, Betty - I've been doing more research since my original post and have found that Asa SECORD md2 Sarah Elizabeth DARLING b: c1827. This Sarah Elizabeth DARLING is the elder sister of my ancestor Sanford DARLING who married Mariah/Maria SECORD.

Sarah & Asa SECORD named their 1st child (a daughter) Clarissa (after Sarah Elizabeth's mother) and their 2nd child (a son) Sanford (probably after her brother Sanford).

I'm thinking that there might be some sort of family relationship (niece, cousin, etc.) that could link Mariah and Asa.

Again, thanks for your help. Maybe this mystery will be solved some day.
