I have an Andrew Secrest 1773-1828 who had a brother named Jacob b. 1770-1818 whose father was Henry {Heinrich Siegrist} from Buchenloh, Zurich, Switzerland who died in VA. He had 2 wives with several kids who had several kids.

I have also seen references to Germany, but I’m going by my family records saying Swiss.

Settled in PA then moved to Frederick Co., Virginia and died there in 1799.

I see my Jacob lists another ‘Jacob’ in his will recorded Apr 5 1848 but my Jacob had relocated to OH.

By 1818 all the kids had relocated to different states and was gone from VA. I have more Jacobs.
Tell me dates if you can about Andrew and Jacob and do you know where in Germany?
Basically, I really need dates.

From your info you have stated, I get the idea that you are likely from this Henry Secrest unless you know for sure that Jacob came from Germany around 1747.

I also see here in my records that this Henry maybe be the Henry listed by ‘Faust’ as immigrating in 1744...I wonder if he had a brother named Jacob who came with him to America?

The interesting thing about this is that many poor immigrant families from Swiss/Germany area, were flooding England who didn’t know what to do with them all so started dumping them in NC and other properties they had purchased to get rid of them! Laugh! Just a bunch of American mutts but look at us now.

Write back.
