Verla, thank you for replying to my message. I have been able to establish Jacob Secrest, Sr. as a DAR Patriot through my line, son Andrew Secrest.
Jacob's sons, Jacob Secrest, Jr. and John Secrest, are both established as Rev. War soldiers. It seems they eventually moved to Tennessee. They probably received land in Tennesse as their payment for serving in the Revolutionary War.
I went to the Union County Heritage Room and found documents that would help me establish the generations.
I did use the affidavit that Andrew Secrest made as to his father Jacob Secrest living on the old Andrew Jackson homeplace to establish the connection between Jacob Secrest and his son Andrew, as I could not find a will for Jacob.
Verla, do you know of any documents that state that Nancy Sarah Winchester Secrest (1st wife of Andrew Secrest)was the daughter of Douglas Winchester and the wife of Andrew Secrest (wills, deeds, bible records, etc.)?
When I was at the Union County Heritage Room, I did not have time to go through the Winchester vertical files. I plan to go back the Union County and look at those files in the near future.
I would love to establish Douglas Winchester as a DAR Patriot.
