I spent the first few years of my research checking out possible relatives who may have come before Valentine. Here is what I found: Bartholomew and Michael Siegrist arrived aboard the ship James Goodwill on Sep 27, 1727; Adam Seegrist came aboard the ship Peggy on Sep 14, 1750; Hans Seegerist came over on the ship Brothershood on Nov 3, 1750; and Peter Segrist came aboard the ship Polly, Aug 24, 1765. I have never found Valentine on a passenger list, but he supposedly landed in Baltimore in Apr 1765. Christian Seacrist and his two sons, Jacob and Hans Georg, came to America from Basil, Switzerland, on the ship Two Brothers. They landed in Philadelphia on Aug 28, 1750. So there were lots of them who came over and most of them seem to have settled in York and Lancaster Counties in PA. I do have a copy of Valentine's naturalization paper dated Sept 25, 1772 in Baltimore, MD. (This was done after he had completed his seven years as an endentured servant to pay for his family's passage.) This paper was kept in a strong box for years after being handed down thru generations of those living in the house built by son John when he married and bought a parcel of his father's original farm. A descendant of John's took the original out of the strong box and photographed it (with a camera) and sent me the picture. I have made copies of that picture and shared with researchers for years.
