This John Sedgley was born 10 Jan. 1822 in Limerick, Maine. He was a carpenter and lived for some years in San Francisco and Alameda, CA. His parents were Jotham (8 March 1784 - 31 Jan. 1857) and Hannah (Alden) Sedgley (20 Jan. 1791 - ? Nov 1876). Hannah Alden is just the sort of name one likes to discover in the family tree; she is the great great great granddaugter of John Alden (1599-1687) who sailed to Plymouth on the Mayflower.

John's 10 siblings were Josiah, Lucy, Sarah, Jotham, Abner, James, Erastus, Hannah, and two unnamed who died in infancy. I have a little additional information about most of them if you are interested.

My records show that he had four children: Hannah, Emmie, Abner, and John, but I have no additional information about them. If you have any knowledge about them, I'd be quite interested.

The exact date of his marriage to Eliza Smith is new information to me. Thanks very much.

David Sedgeley
