Is SEGERS related to SEGER?

Dear Friends,

In the last few years I've come across family members named SEGER, SEGAR, SEAGER, and SEGOR. I've traced my family back to Simsbury, CT abt 1625. I haven't been able to cross the ocean back to their homeland but I AM PRETTY SURE that they are English in origin.

We all know (or find out) that the name we were raised with has been altered for several reasons.

However, different spellings MAY indicate ethnic or geographic backgrounds.

I know a SEGER strain from Germany also exists in the USA.

Please share your experiences with me. Is SEGERS primarily of a certain background or is it like my name (SEGER) and just one of many variations?

I'm going to post this on several of the boards that sound sorta like "Seger".

Thanks, Bob Seger
