John SEIPLE and his wife, Susanna

If you are related to John Seiple and Susanna "Anglenine", you may want to consider that her maiden name is incorrectly documented in the biography of their son, Harvey Seiple. ANGLENINE is probably a printer's error. Her maiden name is more likely ANGLEMIRE or ANGLEMYER (spelled many different ways).

In the 1870 Federal Census for Providence Township, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania (page 12), Susanna and her husband, John Seiple, are found in dwelling no. 78. Living with the family is Susan ANGLEMYER age 86. This is the widow of Peter ANGLEMYER of Northampton Co., Pennsylvania (where John & Susanna had come from).

Then in the 1900 census, Susanna says she is born in April 1815 and this corresponds to the christening record I found for Susanna, daughter of Peter ANGLEMYER and his wife, Susanna NICOLAUS. The christening record is from the Lutheran and Reformed Congregations in Upper Mount Bethel Township, Northampton, Pennsylvania; 1774-1833; p. 97. The Sponsors are the parents, Peter ANGELMEYER and his wife, Susanna. The record has been filmed by the LDS church (FHL Film 0020354) and is available through the Family History Library in Salt Lake City or one of the Family History Centers.

Susanna's six siblings are also on this microfilm. I am related to Susanna's third brother, Emmanuel (Immanuel) ANGELMEIER or ANGLEMIRE, who married Sarah MUSSELMAN. I have researched ANGLEMIRE families for over twenty years and truly believe that Susanna's maiden name is ANGLEMIRE or ANGLEMYER.

Also some of you may have noticed that John SEIPLE's family has a son named Peter (age 9 years old) in the 1850 U.S. Federal Census. This would be the child who should be "Harvey SEIPLE". Peter is the name of Susanna ANGLEMIRE or ANGLEMYER's father, who was still living in Northampton County until 1866.

I am sharing this information because those of you researching the name "ANGLENINE" never have recorded parents for Susanna. With the course correction of ANGLEMYER the lineage goes back several generations in colonial Pennsylvania and then into southwestern Germany.

If you would like to contact me, I'd be interested in hearing from you.

Best wishes,

Mary Scott
