RULIE SEIPLE in Central New York
I am searching for any info on a Rulie Seiple who was born in Higginsville, Oneida County, New York on March 12, 1874. Rulie was married to Mattie Collins and had six children with her. He left his family and ran off with my grandmother (Nita Jones Armstrong---a next door neighbor). They settled in Richfield Springs, New York. My grandmother was married to John Armstrong and had six children with him. When she and Rulie Seiple took off, they took Nita's baby LeRoy with them (she left the other children there). LeRoy was raised as a Seiple until he enlisted in the Armed Forces and found out he was really an Armstrong. Rulie and Nita had a child together---Herbie. Herbie and his father were out for a drive when he was sixteen years old. Herbie was driving and had an auto accident. He died on June 6, 1944. Nita died in 1944. According to what I could find out, Rulie's other children wanted nothing to do with him. He set his barn on fire in Richfield Springs and hung himself. My question is this, were he and my grandmother ever married OR did they just live together? This has been bugging my side (the Armstrong's) of the family for years. Nita was an only child and was the daughter of Frank and Calista Suits Jones. Supposedly, Rulie and Nita are buried together in Grove Cemetery in the Town of Verona, New York. Where is Herbie buried? If any of this sounds familiar to anyone, PLEASE contact me so our family will know what really happened to these people. Nita never had anything to do with her 5 other children. Thanks in advance.
