I recently learned that my GGgrandfather, Mathew Spikes, appears on the muster roll of Capt. Stephen Richard's company of the Mounted Friendly Indians, 1st Brigade of the Florida Militia, commanded by Gen. Leigh Reid, 15 Oct 1837 to 23 Apr 1838. Did white frontiersmen serve in this brigade, or would my gggrandfather's service indicate that he was Creek? Any information about this troop would be welcomed. Thank you in advance.
