I have an extended Suggs family in Florida who served in the Florida Mounted Militia during the Second Seminole War. John, Ezekiel, Noah, James and Lorenzo Suggs. Several of these guys were born in Georgia. One member of the Suggs family, Robert Suggs, was killed in the Wiley Thompson Massacre at Fort King in Marion County, Florida, one of the two events started the war. I'm sure that was why my group of Suggs family members joined up to fight the Seminoles.
I'm wondering if Lawyer Suggs could be somehow connected. John Suggs (b 1750-1760) won some land in Georgia but evidently sold it and moved to Florida where the rest of the family was. This wasn't the same John Suggs who was in the Florida Mounted Militia.
John Suggs was born in either North or South Carolina. He was old enough to be Allen Suggs' father. He had a son in 1820 who would be about Allen's age. Any thoughts on this?
