I very much appreciate that information, Louie.I don't have much more than that...in fact you filled in a few holes I had in sequencing these 3 separate and distinct George Wynn Sessoms.
I am, at this point, working on the following theory:
According to the Nicholas Sessom Book which a lot of people have copies of, George Wynn Sessom I also had a son named James.
My line picks up in TX with Ellis Sessom, who had at least one son named Michael. From that beginning I follow this line:Ellis, Michael, John N, Jesse G, Edna Leafy Sessom.Leafy marries George W Johnson, whose daughter Imogene married Lewis Hood.....and I'm in the next generation.
Now I have two problems.First I have very little access to TN records, so I'm running blind.Since there is absolutely NOTHING I can locate on an Ellis Sessom (who may have been a doctor)....I have to assume that Michael's father is James E (for Ellis) Sessom, who witnessed a Will in TN.Second, unless I'm badly misinformed, George Wynn Sessom was THE Sessom who moved to Maury County, TN...and all the other Sessoms listed there were in some way, shape or form attached to him.
I'm nearly convinced that James E Sessom was the son of George Wynn Sessom I and Delilah Sparkman, but I'm no where near sure enough to chisel into concrete.
One write up on this part of the Sessom family (in Texas) states they were in TX territory as early as 1822, when Michael was 11, which means Michael was born ca 1811.Making James or Ellis (provided my theory is right) born about 1775ish...which is right at the proper age for George Wynn Sessom I's first few children.
Census records list Michael as born in TN, which again takes me straight back to George and Delilah. Both these Sessoms applied for land grants in the Robertson Colony of Texas in 1835 under claims that they were emigrees prior to 1830.
Until I find someone who can help trade research material, or until I can make a pilgrimage to Maury, Williamson and Hickman Counties of TN (which is where I think there were descendants of Geo Wynn Sessom I) I'm literally stuck.
Oh...one final note. There was also a Benjamin W Sessom who applied for land in TX about the same time, but he shows up back in TN, ca 1840.My hunch is the W is for Wynn.
Unless there is ANOTHER Sessom located in TN in the same time frame as George Wynn Sessom I, I don't know who else could POSSIBLY be Ellis Sessom's father.
Any ideas or recommendations.I'm open for suggestions.
