Gilles de Sévigné was born August 26,1636 at Rennes, France to Renaud de Sévigné and Lady Gabrielle Dubellay per one of our cousins. He was a middle class merchant on the street of St. Germain, parish of St. Germaine, Rennes, France.
The name Sévigné, n. de localite d'origine et. anc. fief marquisal (Ille-et- Vilaine) (named after the location of an ancient fifedom)
