Our ancestors from France (Sevignys included) were all catholics.Some were huguenots when they came,but they were quickly convinced to convert to catholicism. To make a long story short, CATHOLIC PRIESTS DID NOT THEN OR AT ANY TIME MARRY! Some priests did have children I can assure you, but it wouldn't have been in wedlock. I would revisit your sources - perhaps there was a misinterpretation.
