Since your grandmother is 87, she'd be the same generation as my father, Norman John Shackelton. He died in 1976 but would be 92 if he were alive today. His father, my grandfather, William Norman Shackelton lived in Syracuse, NY. His father was Joseph Shackelton and was one of 11 siblings. They are: William Norman, Marion (Massachusetts), Alice Ann (Utica, NY) who married a Dondley and is documented in Patty Lindsay's home page, Frederick George (NY), Lillie Jane (NY), John (Syracuse), Richard, Charles Alvin (died young), Robert Collin (Miami Fl), Thomas Jefferson Shackelton (died at birth), and Walter Arthur (NY). My father's siblings were his brother Robert (Mass.) and his sister, Jessie Mae Massey. If your mother met my Aunt Jessie, she would remember - she was fantastic. She was very outgoing and went overboard to make everyone feel good. She and my uncle George Massey lived in Syracuse. She died in 1983 at about 70 years old.
Hope there's a match. When I started this I never realized there were so many Shackletons (Shackeltons). We were always the only one in the phone book everywhere we lived.
