Does anyone know anything about the Shackletons of Colne? John, son of Robert, was born about 1753. He married Ann and they had a daughter called Mary about 1781.
Did this John go to the Great Siege of Gibraltar which lasted from 1779 to 1783 and was he killed there? Did his father own a cotton mill in Stockport? Or was this another Shackleton altogether?
I'd be very grateful for any information at all.
