I am interested in the family you mention, because I think I may be descended from one of their children whom you do not mention in your posting: John Shackleton, born: 5 December 1802; christened: 24 June 1807, Burnley, Lancashire (the same day that their younger daughter Phibe/Phoebe was christened.

I have located the following regarding children of John and Betty Shackleton of Burnley in the International Genealogical Index (IGI) on familysearch.org:

John Shackleton, son of John and Betty Shackleton, born: 5 December 1802; christened: 24 June 1807, Burnley, Lancashire, England.

Phibe Shackleton, daughter of John and Betty Shackleton; born: 12 June 1807; christened: 24 June 1807, Burnley, Lancashire, England.

Elizabeth Shackleton, daugher of John and Betty Shackleton; born: 7 February 1810; christened: 22 April 1810, Burnley, Lancashire, England.

Thomas Shackleton, son of John and Betty Shackleton, 1 January 1813, Burnley, Lancashire, England.

William Shackleton, son of John and Betty Shackleton, 24 June 1817, Burnley, Lancashire, England.

I would be interested in learning anything more about the above Shackletons and whether anyone knows what became of the John Shackleton, son of John and Betty Shackleton of Burnley.

Is it possible that he is my 4th-great-grandfather John Shackleton, who married Elizabeth (Betty) Jennings on 14 December 1823 at St. Chad's, Rochdale, Lancashire? I know next to nothing about him, except that he died sometime between 1829 and 1835, probably in Rochdale.

John and Elizabeth (Jennings) Shackleton had three daughters:

1. Sarah (b: bef 12 June 1825, Rochdale; m: Abel Buckley on 12 Feb 1854, Rochdale; m2: Edmund Tattersall, abt 1886-1891, Rochdale; d: 20 Aug 1909, Blackpool)

2. Jane (b: abt May 1828, Manchester; m: Joseph Heap, 17 Aug 1853, Rochdale; d: 1 Jan 1904, Plymouth, MA)

3. Elizabeth (b: bef 31 Aug 1829, Rochdale; m: Samuel Tattersall, 29 Jan 1854, Rochdale; m2: John Fitton, 20 Oct 1869, Rochdale; d: 2 May 1879, Wuerdle, Rochdale).

I would be grateful to hear anything further about any of the Shackletons listed above.
