My birth grandmother, Mary Reamer was born in 1892 to Michael and Catherine Reamer. In the 1900 Census for Canton township she is shown as 10 years old with her parents and as a neighbor of John and Elizabeth (Miller) Shackleton.

I believe Mary was later "adopted" by the Shackletons. This was a second marriage for her mother Elizabeth. Elizabeth's first husband was Sylvester P Clark. Although I no longer believe that I am decended from the Shackleton's, I have Elizabeth's bible, some ephemera and heirlooms I believe to be hers.

I am very interested in finding out more about Elizabeth's husband John. I don't believe they had any children, but John may have been married with children another time. Mary's birth family (Reamer) lived in Plymouth and are buried in Riverside Cemetery in Plymouth as are some Shackletons.

As I said in a previous post, I have a picture I believe may be John Shackleton.

I can't explain my delay in responding. I remain quite confused about this family!

Would love to hear from anyone with any information.

Joan Nickel Craig
