Thanks Carolyn for sharing that info.Every piece of the puzzle may fit together one day.Probably all these Chadd/Shadd/Shad's are related, esp. IN and KY ones.
Since my Joseph was listed on the KY Confederate list as Joseph E., I am now thinking it is slightly possible that his complete name was Joseph Edward Chadd/Shad.
That would fit the 1850 Census in Harrison Co., KY, entry of Edward Chadd, b. abt 1833, KY.Prob. son of Rachel, abt 1812 [1850 Census - widow].Possible father would be David [1840 Census].The 1850 children complete are:Eleanor, 1831, Edward, 1833, George W., 1835, Samuel F., 1838, Eliza A., 1840, John A, 1841, Sarah E, 1842, James 1845, Caroline, 1846, and William 1849.This is also a Charles, 1821, Hannah, 1801.Someone who can acually look a the census page can fit the above togreher for me?
Speaking of Charles, I see his children are probably orphans by 1870.Three dau. [Florence, Mary E., Ann E., Living with Winkle's and later some marry Winkle's and a poss. Joseph, age 7 in another household.
However, I have an Edward Shadd marrying a Emily J. Brewsaugh in 1855 Harrison Co., KY.Which does not match my Joseph [E.] [1860 Census] and wife Sarah.Does anyone know this Edward....
I found a possible family [with the right ages]: Edward Shad, b. KY, [parents b. KY], wife Sarah M., b. OH, on the 1880 Census in Carroll County, Arkansas.Based on the birth place of their children, they were in Missouri in 1870 and by 1871 in Kansas, and by 1877 Arkansas.no older children were in the household, this could be a second wife. This might explain the absence of Joseph in Harrison County, KY but the present of my Albert Shadd, b. 1859, [VA???].Perhaps the family I am looking for.
Now Carroll Co., Ark. happens to be where some of my Clemons relatives migrate to [from Harrison Co., KY] say mid-1880s.
To cover another Albert Chadd/Shadd.It starts off with John Chadd/Shadd in Grant Co., KY [adjacent to Harrison] for 1850 migrates to Vigo Co., IN by 1860, Albert T. Chadd, b. 1861, IN; then by 1870 in Parke Co. IN and by 1880 in York Co. Nebraska.Albert is found there in 1900.Not the one I am looking for.
So, I still have not found my Albert Shadd and Mary "Emma" Clemons.
