Thought I might also add David's parents to my last post.
Peter and Susana Shaeffer moved from Kansas to Oklahoma in 1897.
They had one son, David, who had already gone south with Malissa and family to homestead near Stinnet, Oklahoma when the Cherokee Strip opened in 1893. At this time David and Malissa would have had Isaaic 1889, Harey 1891 and probably Ira, who was born in 1893. (They had 8 children in total)
So Peter, Susana and their son, Joseph, and daughters, Eliza, Susan settled to farm near what would become the town of Keystone, Oklahoma. In 1899, they made the trip to Elk City, Kansas to visit another son, Ben, who was a school teacher there. While the family was there, Susana fell ill and died suddenly. Her remains were brought back to Oklahoma by wagon for burial.
So we have, in some order:
David b 1861 (sp Malissa)
Ben
Joseph (sp#1 Dee Tweedy widowed)(sp#2 Carrie Abbet)
Eliza
Susan (sp Jack Peeples)
