Gus Shamp (b. 1854, Posen, Germany) > AZ

I am looking for information about my great grandfather Gus Shamp (or Schamp or Schampe). He was born in Posen, Germany in 1854, the oldest of 12 children. He immigrated to the USA in 1867, and some time thereafter, possibly in 1882, married my great grandmother Mattie (a.k.a. Nettie) Bible (b. 1866, Texas or Little Rock, Arkansas, d. 16 January 1923, Tucson, AZ). They were married in Florence, Arizona.

Gus and Mattie had two children:
Clarence Hany Shamp (b. 21 July 1880, ? AZ, d. 21 December 1905, Los Angeles, CA)
Dorothy Shamp, my grandmother (b. 3 December 1899, Jerome, AZ, d. 30 December 1970, Montebello, CA).

Gus was a cook for an unknown railroad, and died somewhere in Nevada in 1912.

This information came to me through my grandmother, Dorothy Shamp Lorona. I have documentation on the Shamp children and Mattie Bible, but nothing on Gus. Can you help me?

Many thanks,

Paul
