Hi, I'm not sure if I can help you with what you needed to know, but maybe you have info on the SHANE family. I just recently found out I am a SHANE, via ( Peter, father Jacob),(Jacob's father Thomas), (Thomas'father Michael, of Ireland,...). I know that this family was settled in the Lycoming Co., PA area, most likely Muncy Creek Twp. These people were probably all sawmill workers. I scoured the website for Lycoming Co., Pa and there's a bunch of historical info on settlers, etc. But, none of the SHANE family is ever mentioned??? I have records of their living in this area. There's even a Shane Elementary School in one of the counties. I suspect there was an Irish/Catholic settlement in the area and this is where I could find out more. Elizabeth Short sounds familiar...I might have seen her name in my searches. Do you know anything about the parents? What about siblings? Here's what I do know...Michael Shane I, born 1673, emigrated at 22-years to Berlin, Germany. There he married a german girl named Nancy/Mary Dedric/Dietrich? Two of their children, Thomas and ? came to America. According to the 1850 Census, Thomas(listed as a farmer)and his wife Rachel were living in Lycoming Co., Moreland Twp. with children; Robert, Surely A. (sp?), Mary A., Jacob. Did Thomas and his sibling ( male or female?) come right to PA? Or, did they live in the NY/NJ area first? There could be a connection, you never know. What research avenues have you taken? I've found things just by typing the County and Township names in my search. I'm going to print out your mesage just in case I come across something. Hope to hear from you. Good luck!
